Nissan Pathfinder Wheel Center Caps

The mid-size Nissan Pathfinder SUV is just the right size for hauling kids or hauling gear. If your Pathfinder has lost a wheel center cap while it was hard at work, replacements are available. OEM or aftermarket parts will finish out the wheels and keep your ride looking sharp.

What are wheel center caps?

Nissan Pathfinder wheel center caps cover the wheel hub and, depending on the style, the nuts that attach the wheel. Part of their function is to be decorative. They cover the hub nut and give the rim a smooth, finished appearance.

Center caps also help protect the wheel bearings and hub nuts from dirt. All the water and grime that gets thrown onto the wheel from the road can lead to corrosion and wear. It’s the wheel center cap’s job to deflect some of this mess.

Are all Nissan Pathfinder center caps the same?

Nissan has produced several different styles of center caps for the Nissan Pathfinder over the years. Which one is right for your SUV depends on the model year and trim package. To be sure you’re getting a center cap that fits, match the part number. This number can be found on the back of the cap.

What center cap styles are available for the Nissan Pathfinder?

Nissan Pathfinder wheel center caps can be separated into two broad categories: triangular and round. There are also variations in size and finish. You should be aware that some Pathfinder models use a closed cap on the rear wheels and one that is open in the middle on the front wheels.

  • Triangular: This roughly triangular-shaped center cap is found on 1987 through 1995 models. It is usually silver, with holes for six lugs to pass through.
  • Round: Nissan changed to a round cap in 1996. The earlier models were cup-shaped. After 2005, they were designed to be flat with a raised logo in the center. You can find both styles in silver, chrome, and black. The Nissan logo in the center is typically chrome. The round wheel center caps may be either 3.5 or 2.75 inches in diameter, depending on the model.

There are a couple of outliers to the “round” category. Pathfinders produced from 1999 through 2002 may have a notched, eight-inch wide cap. It is silver with five lug holes. If your Nissan Pathfinder SUV is from the model years 2005 through 2013 and has factory steel wheels, it will have a 6.5-inch center cap. This is a star-shaped cap on a flat base with pass-through holes for six nuts.

How do you replace center caps on the Pathfinder?

Most Nissan Pathfinder center caps can be carefully pried off from the front with a screwdriver. If the center caps have holes for the nuts to pass through, you’ll have to take the nuts off first. If a cap is particularly stubborn, you can take the wheel off and push the part out from the back. Installing a new center cap is usually easy. You push them in from the front until the retaining clips snap into place.
