How does the Luminox watch illumination work?

The Luminox watch is self-illuminated by micro glass illumination tubes (LLT). The self-powered lights use micro gas technology and are comprised of borosilicate glass capsules. The capsules are used in the hour markers, watch hands, and watch bezel. No external power source is necessary to produce luminescence. The LLT do not consume watch battery power.
