Kenmore Dryers

Drying clothes was once done on a clothesline, outside. Today, many people don't have a yard for a clothesline; they also have a very busy lifestyle and don't have time to hang things up. A Kenmore dryer is one of today's conveniences which make hanging clothes unnecessary.

Are older Kenmore dryers and new dryers the same inside?

While there have been upgrades to them over the years, the older and newer models operate much the same. In some cases, old and new machines use interchangeable parts because they are so similar.

Should mist be visible when the dryer is working?

In general, no. A steam dryer uses a very small amount of water. However, one cannot see when the liquid is coming out.

How is a gas dryer different from an electric dryer?

Gas dryers are sometimes less costly to operate than electric ones. However, if you don't have a gas line coming into your house, you will have to consider the cost of putting one in. In some cases, gas dryers may also get your clothing dry faster and be more efficient, but it depends on the model and how well it functions.

Will a Kenmore leave clothing slightly damp?

In some cases, you may find that clothing is still slightly damp when it comes out of your automatic dry cycle. This is not the appliance malfunctioning. Rather, it is a protective measure that is intended to prevent clothes from shrinking or wrinkling. If you want your items to get more dry, consider using a timed dry setting on your Kenmore dryer. You can also place the dryer on a higher heat setting or allow clothes to partially air-dry.

How do you clean the lint out of your dryer?

The lint trap needs to be cleaned after each load. In addition, if you use dryer sheets, you may have to rinse it with water to make sure it isn't clogged. Use a brush and a vacuum to remove the lint in the duct. You can also replace a flexible duct with a rigid metal duct to help prevent buildup of lint in the duct work. To get to the inside of the dryer, unplug it or turn off the gas, then open either the top or the front. You can use a vacuum or brush to clean out any lint deposits around the drum or on the bottom of the machine. The procedure is the same for both gas and electric dryers.
