Replacing Solenoids and Other Parts and Accessories in Your Golf Cart

If you enjoy fixing engines and getting your hands greasy, golf cart repairs may be for you. With simple engines and minimal components, replacing parts like solenoids and O-rings is very simple when it comes to a golf cart. However, it is very important to know what you are doing, and this will get you started:

What Should I Think About When Replacing Golf Buggy Solenoids?

When it comes to replacing solenoids, the main thing is to make sure that you have the right parts. If you dont, then one of two things will happen: you will cause more damage to an already damaged engine, or it simply wont go, even after you install the new (wrong) part. Think about the following before you try to replace any solenoids:

  • Do you have the right part? This is an extremely important question that everyone needs to ask themselves before attempting to replace solenoids. If you arent sure, consult your manual, do some research, and if you still dont know, speak to a mechanic.
  • Do you have the right tools? Although replacing solenoids isnt as hard as things like putting a new gasket in, you still need to have the right tools and accessories. If you dont you will run into a lot of trouble.
  • Are you sure that the solenoid is the problem? Dont try and replace the solenoids on your golf buggy unless you are sure that they are the problem. Doing so would simply be a waste of time and money.

What Other Parts Should I Look at Replacing or Maintaining?

If you are putting the time and effort into replacing or maintaining your solenoids, you may as well perform a bit more engine maintenance while youre at it. Some of the other parts and accessories that you should check include:

  • The electrical system - If your buggy stores outdoors or somewhere that things like rats and other vermin can get to it, then it could be worth checking over your electrics. Make sure that they are all in good condition and not damaged in any way.
  • The solenoid valves - If you have to replace the solenoids on your golf carts engine, then it will definitely be worth checking over the solenoid valves while youre at it.
  • Other equipment - Whenever you do running maintenance, you should get into the habit of running your eyes over your golf buggy and picking up any obvious problems. Catching and fixing things early can help prevent a lot of issues in the long run.
