Audi S4 Complete Engines for Sale

Audi S4 engines are among the most powerful engines in the luxury sedan market. Most of these engines were equipped with a supercharger to provide maximum thrust to the car. If you're looking for a reliable used Audi S4 engine for sale or the turbocharged Audi 2.7t engine for sale, you can find new and preowned complete engines for the Audi S4 at reasonable prices on eBay.

Types of engines for Audi S4

The original Audi S4 used a spark-ignition petrol engine, which was also used in a variety of other automobiles. It was not until 1997 that a third-generation V6 engine was used; it had 30 valves in its six-cylinder configuration. Also known as bi-turbo units, these engines are mainly used with models manufactured between 1997 and 2001.

The bi-turbo version was replaced by an all-aluminum 40-valve engine. It is distinguished by side-mounted controlled radiators and water coiling in the engine compartment. New models after 2008 use a TFSI supercharged V6 engine.

TFSI supercharged V6 engine

The TFSI engine is a supercharged engine used in models after 2009. The engine design and features are different from the earlier models as it uses a supercharger. The supercharger can be controlled and customized using variations in belts, gear, shafts, or chains connected to the engine's crankshaft.

The high power output is achieved through a compressed air that is forced inside the engine. Compared to the previous models, you will also notice a reduction in noise, vibration, and harshness. Independent tests of these engines show that TFSI can get faster acceleration compared to traditional V8 engines used in rival cars.

Despite the agility and performance, both the first generation TFSI and second-generation TFSI offer refined output, as the difference between the two is less than 1 mpg; because of that, both engines can be considered reliable. It is perhaps also the reason why engines for the 2010 and 2011 Audi S4 tend to stay in demand.

What makes original Audi S4 engines special?

The inline five-cylinder engine used in the first-generation models was powerful by contemporary standards. It also contained an advanced Bosch Motronic electronic engine control unit that is still used by large luxury sedans in the market. Similarly, the 2.7-liter twin-turbo Biturbo, 90-degree third-generation, known for being the B5 S4 engine, could accelerate to 100km/h in only 5.6 seconds. Both these engines powered the quickest sedan engines at the time of their production. The V6 engine was used until 2001 before it was replaced with a 40-valve V8 engine at the start of the millennium.
